Karma Fest
Karma Fest At Oregon Ridge Park, Hunt Valley, MD

I had seen this festival advertised on street signs in my town and along the road to Maryland so I thought Paul and I would go over and see what it was all about. The main exhibition hall of the park was filled with stands offering aura readings, massage therapy, past-life readings, and all manner of crystals, dreamcatchers, and essential oils for sale. Another hall was reserved for lectures and workshops.

On the beautiful hill that has been the site of so many wonderful BSO concerts, outdoor picnic pavilions were given over to speakers. We listened for a while to Graig Villarrubia presenting a talk entitled “Enlightenment or Bust!” based on the teachings in A Course In Miracles. On the main stage, Maria Broom of the HBO show, The Wire, was leading “Dance Medicine”. Everyone was welcome to release tension and stress by Shimmying and shaking the body.

The lectures and workshops ran from 11 am to about 7:30 pm and covered everything you would ever want to know about alternate spiritual disciplines.
But the piece de resistance for me was the beautiful crochet dress that a lovely young woman was wearing! Paul noticed her standing in line to pay her admission fee and I asked her if I could take her photo. So you see, I actually did manage to include some crochet in this post! The lovely young woman is Jill and she readily agreed to have her photo appear on my blog. I asked her if she had made her dress but she said that she hadn’t. It looked like a vintage dress and was in perfect condition.

I agree Lisa. It was even more beautiful in person. The photo doesn’t do it justice.
